Activities & Incentives

As a national organization concerned with rural livelihoods and sustainable forestry, NNFP is active on many fronts and focused on many different issues. Since NNFP members are the “movers and shakers” and busy innovators in rural communities across the United States, we strive to create opportunities that enables folks from across the country to efficiently connect with and learn from one another, and access technical assistance when it is most helpful.

Our activites are geared toward supporting small forest enterprises, cooperatively-owned ventures, and local and regional organizations working to create rural jobs and sustain forests.

We have a leadership development initiative designed for passionate and dedicated lead staff, executive directors, and board members of community-based natural resources organizations.

To create more ongoing opportunities for learning and networking, we have added E-learning as a tool to increase opportunities for folks who do not have the time or resources to travel extensively.

Through ourĀ web-based E-learning and networking platform, we host live web-based seminars (“webinars”) and member roundtables, and offer downloadable recordings of past sessions. Some examples of topics include:

  • innovations in landowner outreach
  • web-based marketing
  • community-scale biomass
  • issues in forest cooperation
  • funding opportunities
