Non-Timber Forest Products Working Group Documents
Forest Service Regulations on Non-Timber Forest Products Harvest, Permits, Etc.
On October 22, 2007 the US Forest Service issued a rule relating to the permitting and harvest of non-timber forest products from National Forest lands.
As part of the NNFP’s NTFP work we have collaborated with IFCAE to support awareness of, and dialog around, the new Forest Service rules.
Given that these rules may impact harvesters who rely on NTFPs it is important that harvesters are aware of them and have the opportunity to comment.
The October 22, 2007 rule, and a summary and analysis done by Rebecca McClain follow, as well as an older fact-sheet on section 339
Recommendations for developing good comment letters can be found under the policy resources section. POLICY RESOURCES
